After circling the Great Wen, and teasing like Gypsy Rose Lee, the sno has finally arrived in that there London village.

Not heavy (yet), and fortunately the last few very cold days have been very dry, so it's not really icy. But the drizzly snow that stung my eyes when i set off from home had changed into flakes now I'm at work.

I've been anxious for a while as people tell of the trickiness of conditions by them, and I've been fretting about riding out in it. But today's been OK. Cold, and slow, but OK.

Getting home might be interesting.

I set off for work this morning thinking the commute would be no bother, but I didn't fancy driving a bus over the tops to Matlock. I got maybe a mile before I saw the cars struggling to get DOWN the first hill, 'phoned in and told them it was a f*** it, and recommended they cancel all the high level routes as it was dodgy even low down. I now know all the schools are shut and Agecoach are only operating low level main roads.

I was hoping that Londinium would be cloaccad in thick sno this morning so that it would be worth me getting the trike out, but although it was sno'ing, it's just wet on the ground.

Still, if tonight it sno's more then tomorrow morning the capital's motorised road users will be getting a fright....

It's snowing reasonably heavily in central London. And bah and humbug, I am on the tube owing to work. Although yay and hurrah, I finished early and am in a pub. :D

We have a lot of snow. And more is falling.

Been hammering down all day. Some of the major routes are open with care but R2 traffic totty reckons the M1 is bad around 28-30 which is us. I've been in the shed (just on freezing) fitting the bike to take a gel cell again having trashed a Schmidt hub.
40Euros plus postage (to Germany) to get it rebuilt. :faint:
And the Cyo isn't quite as good on the battery. :grrrr:

Perhaps we should perform unspeakable rites using a Lego model of Michael Fish and some spray-cream fromma can.

Embra schools have been off the last two days. And the consequence was: a snow sauropod and a snow tyranosaurus on the back green.

There was a snowman on the M8, in the fast lane yesterday, wearing a Highways Agency vest.

The fast lane was, natch, not so fast. \:D/

So the great Blizzard of 2010 came to The Great Wen...

..and went.

Th-th-th-that's all folks!

Last night I stopped off at a friends while he showed me how to build my S3X into a wheel. Then I ride home in some epic conditions.

This morning, our street was impassable. And there was no traction on the hill to the station (schadenfreude always sets me up well for a tough ride (well, actually, I was checking out on the prospects for bailout options)).

But by the time I got to Wandsworth, the roads were pretty clear. Not even a hint of a whisper of a drama.

I'm snowed in and our heating and hot water is out. For the entire block. And has been for more than 12 hours.

It's fucking cold.

Snowed in, no buses, no trains, no cars. Main road 2'-0" deep. Spent £200 on having the gas boiler pcb replaced last week, plus there's a cast iron stove blazing away in the living room. Going to get the hiking boots & gaiters out in a bit to clear the snow off the shed roof before it caves in!

If the schools are off again tomorrow I might hike it to town for a couple of pints at Green drinks tonight. :drinkers:
