I'm snowed in and our heating and hot water is out. For the entire block. And has been for more than 12 hours.

It's fucking cold.

Bugger. That's not good. Hope it's sorted, 'cos it's been freezing outside all day (-4deg C on the kitchen window ledge right now).

I'm very glad that we got the boiler serviced recently, and that I bought a new duvet a few weeks ago.

Oh, and that I've got a trike :-)

OK, it may have snowed a wee bitty bit in the night. And my optimistic assessment that all main roads would be reasonably clear may have been unsupported by anything approaching a fact.

It took me three hours to get to work, though I have to confess that I took a small detour to go to Butterfly's work en route.

Ice tyres would have been helpful, Mr Wiggle. But I made do with my sideways Marathon Pluses. And stopping at Apex in Clapham to check out if there were any tyres chunkier than a Marathon and narrower than a 29er yielded no results. :(

Epic ride. Some of it in the right direction.

Not so epic for the motorists, incidentally. Seems it was so routine that a lot of them took a quite casual approach to the whole affair, not having cleared snow off windows, lights or (especially) roofs. And a Several of them were using mobile sodding phones! ](*,)

The 4X4 brigade seem to be taking delight in ice dancing around the unploughed estate roads. I've taken to walking with a metal shod stick, and showing the tip towards any idiot who gets too close. :evilchuffy:

-12C this morning. A 40 minute ride took an hour and a half. At least the early morning motons seem to be mostly the more sensible ones. I only had 2 who needed the fist threatening the wing mirror routine.
Ever tried to start a frozen up bus? Everything's compressed air. The brakes won't come off because the pressure won't go high enough, the engine won't rev to boost the compressor 'cos it's an air throttle and it's froze ](*,) ](*,) Plus the doors won't shut and the wipers are out so you sit there freezing your balls off while the bloody thing tries to build up pressure on tickover. I had the system injected with ethanol twice this morning, pity there was none for me! :drunk:

Londonshire's in for it in the small hours of Saturday. Guess where the wife & all the various kids/grandkids/etc... have gone? That's right they're visiting my mother in law in SW16. ](*,)

Talking of "sporting pursuits"...
Just been down the pub for a quick one, or that's how it turned out.
2 big 6'-4" + pissheads decided to hold the Whittington Moor Heavyweight Championships in what's normally a quiet civilised 12 pump real ale joint. One works in the local coal yard, the other just thinks he's 'ard. Sod that I'm having a drink at home with the rabbit. The intelligence level's higher. The other pub's probably full of my mates but the beer's crap.
Jarvis, could I have a pint of the new Brampton Mild please? :drinkers:
