I can't tell you just how much excitement it was purchasing my first ever brand spanking new bike!

My old trusty was passed down from my Dad, weighs around two tonnes and got me hooked on biking! With the Caledonian Etape looming and some other challenge rides it was time to see what was out there.

With much help and pointers from Ravenbait, I was able to purchase my bike today. :claps:

After a test run on the Revoloution X Sport which felt good, but not quite right I opted to road test the Specialized Tri Cross http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?arc=2011&spid=52721. My first thoughts were oh feels considerably lighter, and with the triple it gives me that extra leverage if needed for the hills on the Etape. On the road I forgot I was testing, it just felt right! \:D/ Other noticeable pluses - Drops really don't feel bad/scary, all hail the mighty index gears compared to my old friction shifters.

Very pleased, looking forward to taking himshe out on a proper outing. Next challenge is to go clipless!

Was fun watching you experience just how much faster you can go on a road bike too. First time Ive ever ridden with you and felt, "Damn, I better work harder or I cant keep up!" :)

The Tricross is a very nice bike. They even used to do a very tasty singlespeed version.

It's possible that "shiny new bicycle" is one of the happiest word triplets in the English language.

I've been tempted by the Tricross as a 'do everything' bike a few times. Hope you enjoy many happy miles.

8-[ And now for the shake down ride on the "New" winter iron - old 80s Viscount re-sprayed with a modellers airbrush & set up as a fixed. If I survive the 1.5 miles to the bike shop & back you'll hear in about an hour or so.... 8-[ never ridden fixed before 8-[

:faint: Made it!
All I need now is a pump which will fit the Airzound, even the HPX with the fitting upside down for a mongin' bike won't work. :-k

Well done. Now you'll have trouble with freewheels.
