Hi all,

After some fun Facebook shenanigans, the idea was mooted for a League presence at the Loch Lomond Highland Games next September, and there are a couple of us planning on participating in the Bala Standard earlier in the same month. I think Will is up for some grass track racing, Munky is tempted by the heavy tossing (!) and I'm planning on entering the triathlon.

Any more for any more?

Sam

Chuffy?

Also: Drat, the heavy games are restricted to a local class (resident round those thar parts) and a world-champeen class (accredited results of a pretty high standard). This soft southerner will just have to camp out by the stovies and cheer everyone on.

I bet Will's a bastard on the grass track though eh?

You could always do the tri as well. It's only 600m in the swim (and so shallow you could walk it), you were MUCH quicker on the bike than me last time because you don't stress about falling off on the descent, and the run is only, like, 3km or something.

Does Chuffy visit any more?

He does when spoffled. :badger:

Hrrmmm. Not sure. Next year is LEL year and I might possibly harbour ambitions in that area, so the Highland thing would be out. Bala sounds lovely, but a long way to go for a relative shorty. If I do turn into a middle-aged kit whore then I'll probably be tri-ing closer to home in 2013, assuming I can run without breaking anything.

Galway looked nice though.

Gosh. 1500m, 40k, 10k has never been described to me as a relative shorty before now.

Look forward to seeing you at Norseman Ultra next year, then.

Given my racing experience is limited to singlespeed mountain biking, I have no idea how it would go.

I was in the singlespeed world championships a few years ago. Where I was lapped by the eventual winner on my first lap. Out of three. Pro bikers are stupidly fast.

I just read a description of grass track racing. Like track racing, but with someone grabbing your back wheel on all the straights, and as if there is olive oil on the corners.

So should be entertaining.

Have bought my 2013 race licence!

There's a triathlon festival in St Andrews in July. I think I'm going to enter the standard.

Good luck, have always looked at entering one but never got round to it as didn't think i'd be allowed to on a recumbent.
Was talking to the organiser of the Bigcow events around here and he said it was fine as long as I let them know first.

Bugger!!

I know, it is something I want to do at some point.
I have a marathon planned for May this year so have to up my miles for that. Will also be getting back to some longer cycle rides after having a year or so from doing them.
