It's my next race. After that it'll be Haddington and that's my season over (phew!)

Portie's an open water sprint distance and I'm not expecting to do very well, but it's a race and I'll be there there's a plague of jellyfish or the weather does something unspeakable.

Basically that's it. The police have decided they don't want cycle racing on the roads within the city boundaries any more. They can't ban it or refuse permission because it's not illegal: what they'd one is refuse to permit traffic wardens or members of their staff to help out with policing the critical junctions, which effectively means the race can't be run.

They won't change their minds (although that's not going to stopme having a go). This is the end for the Portobollo tri. Edinburgh racing will either find a venue outside the city (sprint distance at Gullane, maybe) or not run the race at all next year. I'm quite narked about it, as I'd just got my motivation for training back and was starting to look forward to it. Now I can't do another race until Haddington in September.
