Ok, its a new year, I'm commuting again, and feeling like I should do more cycling. Does anyone fancy doing the Tour of East Lothian?

How hilly is it? It has been yonks since I did anything longer than 20k.

It doesn't have any hill points, which either means its pretty flat, or they couldn't be arsed.

The latter: - it goes up Redstone Rigg (to about 400m). Gears recommended, but good views from the top. The descent to Garvald is tooth-rattling. Route map and profile here:

That being said, times are set for a 12.5kmh minimum speed, which is reasonable. I reckon I could just about get my steel hack round in time - but not this year.

I'm rocking a knee injury and a dodgy right foot at the moment, so have decided that my triathlon in March requires me to sit this one out.

Thats fair enough. I'll find something else to amuse myself on the 14th. :)

Hi Will

I’ve entered the Dave Harris Memorial 200k from Rosewell, 7th March. Hopefully I’ll be able to get down to ride it. It might be fairly tough – it’s got 3 AAA points (2,900 metres of climbing), and the organsiser mentioned there are five main climbs; one’s a 1-in-5, but the other four are long and steady. I'll hopefully be riding my new fixie - still with an 86" or thereabouts gear - so I could be doing a fair bit of walking!

David

I've got an ex-work night out on the 6th, so I can't make that one. I'm missing the one this weekend as I have no transport, and I'm actually studying at the moment. :/
