Location: Where? There. There on the stair.
Bits of it are tentative at the mo. Used NCN1 as a rough guide, straying where I knew roads (like the section from the Bridge to Kinross which was part of an audax) or where the Sustrans map warned that the path was too rough for anything other than MTBs or it's suggested you walk along the pavement instead of cycling ont he road ('cycle' network anyone?) or where there are now apparently some very good Psyclepaths (north of Dundee) which are out of towns, flat (alongside railway), smooth, wide and fast... Allegedly.

Official Sustrans distance is 170 miles (add 4.5 to the top of that for getting from my house to the centre of Edinburgh). I've mapped it to 139.43 miles (there are some bits where Sustrans goes completely loopy - almost literally).

Plenty of bail out options along the way with trains at Dundee, Carnoustie, Montrose, Arbroath, Stonehaven..... Hoping not to need them though obviously.

Edinburgh to Forth Road Bridge - 14.71 miles

Forth Road Bridge to Auchtermuchty - 26.88 miles

Auchtermuchty to Dundee - 22.60 miles

Dundee to Montrose - 32.58 miles

Montrose to Stonehaven - 24.45 miles

Stonehaven to Aberdeen - 18.21 miles

Leaving at 6am, aiming for a leisurely 10mph overall average, should see us roll into Aberdeen about 8pm...

All happening on 25th of this month.....

Nice place to stop for food / ales at Catterline is the Creel Inn, or on the next stage there is the Lairhillock @ Netherley. :drinkers:
There will obviously be some of that route involved in my proposed pootle on the 1st....
