As if it's not enough hearing me normally ranting about cycling and drivers and so on.... I've been invited to talk on the Talk 107 breakfast show tomorrow morning about the recent 'Commuter Challenge' in Edinburgh and cycling in the city in general.

I'm 3rd choice (the other two mysteriously both in hospital in the morning - nowt to do with me!) but I get my website plugged and get to talk about bikes... One of the presenters thinks Edinburgh's city centre should be closed to cars, the other that cars are king!

On around 7.15am (just after the news) apparently.

107FM (in case you hadn't guessed).

Good luck! Hope it goes well.

It's a bit extreme to nobble your rivals in your bid for fame, but whatever it takes, I suppose.

Since I ain't travelling miles just to listen to the radio, do they have an online version I could listen to?

*too lazy/inept to Google* ;)

Jolly good Pudders, hope it goes well. Not sure I could guarantee to keep calm if I got any grief though!

May I take this opportunity to plug my piece in the local council magazine? I've been commisioned for a short series of them. All very fluffy and aimed at the casual end of the market, but hey, I'm being paid for it and while I'm building a portfolio I know no shame! Article is here (select Issue 17) and contains a pic of a gurning chimp plus Baggy's knees. :smug:

It was.... interesting....

I was first up, just chatting with the presenters to set up the whole thing about cyclists this morning. After I'd been on it all kinda went downhill and anti-cyclist. All the usuals. They ALL RLJ and ride on pavements; don't pay 'road' tax; are a danger to motorists.. (?)

There was a strange contradiction that we shouldn't be riding on pavements, but should be taken off the roads...

Strange experience, but good nonetheless (and the website got plugged) and they have my number for any short notice cycling inout in the future.

So, I assume you stayed calm and collected throughout. Or are they still trying to get the bloodstains out of the mike cover? :evilchuffy:

Heretic - cheers dad! I may have to have a shave now...

Most certainly calm and collected. Unfortunately the listen again bit of the website only does 'important' people.

I always find that by staying calm throughout things like this that the nutters look even more raving...

Good for you Anth

Change happens best when you're on the 'inside' - taking a confrontational stance is not always best - and I'm sure you make a great ambassador for cycling. ;)
