*walks to the bar trying not to draw too much attention to himself*

Hello everyone.

I've been around cycling forums for a good few years & remember most of you from the C+ days, but have always been more of a reader than a poster on forums & I had a different username back then anyway (I joined just after the first big split)...

I stumbled across this place after reading Sam's article in City Cycling & joined 'cos:
-There's lots of Scots here *waves* & it's cool to find a more local forum
-You have some lovely smilies
-I really, really, really want to join yous on the Dumb run next year (not that I'm needy or anything  )

The last one is the biggie: the Dumb Run is such a fantastic notion! I have an inappropriate vehicle (recumbent, tadpole trike), insufficient fitness & a habit of carrying far too much luggage, so an overnight 100 miler should be no bother....

*quietly sips at pint pretending that he's been here ages*

A recumbent trike?

Oh, it's hot hail in 2009 for sure. :)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I'm saving pennies & hoping to be able to attach a Lumi 1700 lumen LED light to the trike before then, which is just the light I'd need crawling up the Strathblane hills in a 12" bottom gear...

Did I mention that I always get rained on when I do long rides? (I was doing a 100 miler at the time of the last Dumb Run, the weather might have been my fault...)

Recumbent trike? SHIFTY! One of your freakz has rolled up! :D

And Lumi 1700 LED? I like your style. I'm hoping to get one of those to play with very soon...<crosses fingers>

And so the insanity spreads. In ten years time, will we be organising checkpoints and feedstations, and having to warn the pub in advance? I can hand out free merkins at Merkin Farm.

We're definitely going to need merkins.

<Lurch>You rang?</Lurch>

Speedy needs an airing, I've been riding the tourer all year 'cos the weather's been crap. Eventually I'll get around to visiting someone, just to prove I really do exist.*

Hello and welcome, Richie.

*or not. You choose.

Always nice to have another local. We seriously need to get the Winter social series off the ground.

Can we tempt you to the Run of Dumbness this time round, Shifty?

<ponders the logistics of creating a Shifty trapping device>
Hmmmmm, what would work as bait? Perhaps an early bootleg of Jean-Michel Jarre and a bacon butty? :-k

Ravenbait, I'd be up for a winter social series: come mid-January, I might even have some base fitness...

Chuffy, are you going to post a review of the lights somewhere? I'm tempted, but still can't quite persuade myself that £440 is reasonable money for lights: even for burn-the-night-away-stupid-bright lights...

Cheers for the welcome all..

Welllllllllllll....
I'm going to be writing reviews for Road.CC and I've mentioned to them that the new Lumi looks tasty, so they're getting one in. I hope that I'm the one who gets to play with it...<crosses fingers>

It's pricey, but not as bad as other systems of comparable power (Lupine etc). It's also much cheaper if you already have a Lumi system as the batteries are compatible with the new head unit.
