DUMB RUN IV HAS BEEN CANCELLED

:disapprove: :c+sad:

With Erron and Mr 86 pulling out and no word from Tom, that leaves me with two options: either I ride so that there are three of us, and my foot is still sore so I'd probably be doing my long-term recovery absolutely no good; or it's just the Beloved Chairman and Sackperson Extraordinaire Will doing the ride (albeit I'd be there on the beach to greet them).

The Beloved Chairman and I have discussed it at some length and have decided that it would be more fun to have a sociable either Saturday (not the LEPRA) or Sunday involving taking a picnic to a beach with beer and maybe a barbecue and spoffling crabs and wotnot.

I'm very sorry and sad to have to do this, but I don't really see the point in doing it with just two people and for some reason we just don't get the numbers, presumably because the whole self-sufficiency and lack of support overnight is too hardcore for most people :evilchuffy: .

DUMB RUN IV WILL NOW TAKE PLACE SATURDAY 18TH JUNE 2011.

Sam

Will, you are cordially invited round to ours after work for a Little Big Piggies Bass Fishing WipEout party followed by a Sunday trip to the beach. Unless you're so bummed out you don't want to talk to us :-({|= .

If I can scrounge lights to go home after, I'll be round after work.

Sadness!

On the plus side if I put 18 June 2011 in the diary NOW then that should hopefully mean I can make it next year. And Charlotte is nodding in an interested way too.

That Brox would carry a lot of haggis.

Only problem would be getting the Brox up to Scotlandland. It won't go on the train - it barely went on the trailer!

Sorry about having to pull out. I hope the social was a complete success, and that many crabs were had by all…

Well the Derbyshire solstice ride went OK. 6 of us set off around 1 am and rode over the moors to watch the sunrise from a stone circle above Grindleford. Perfect, just like someone throwing a light switch. We heard nightjars churring on the way out, met some people we hadn't seen for ages and finished off with a large bacon and beer breakfast. :c+tongue:
I surfaced around 4pm. :smug: Now the slaves are preparing dinner.
Only downer was Mrs H popped a knee on the way up Curbar coming back, so she's now in Sam mode.

Question: do we henceforth refer to DRIV as the DR that shall not be named and make 2011 DRV?

It might be a Star Trek thing. You know. Because IV was the one with the space whales. Which is riding a megalododon up to a beach and bouncing over it on a pogo stick.

Unfortunate - but sounds like a good call. I hope the foot heals properly.

In my case not only that, but also certain divorce proceedings given Dr RJ's solstice birthday.

That sounds fitting (bearing in mind the DNFs and so on). Up the mythology ...

Next year's DR has been entered into my Google calendar as DRV.

Well next year it's a good few days before Solstice so you'll be able to join us.
