To anyone bailing because of the weather, don't worry. We'll buy you something that smells like wildflowers and shame.

We made it! :)

Too tired to post sanely: on the way back I woke to ask Frood what a female cart was called...

Glad some people did it and most survived. Looking forward to tales of the heroism.

Well done, all.

I went out on my bike for a short ride on Saturday morning – the first time in a couple of weeks, and coughed most of the way despite taking it easy. However, I wasn’t miserable enough not to notice that it was raining, and there was an easterly wind, a combination which made me almost happy I wasn’t riding the Dumb Run. I have no idea what the weather was like overnight, but if it hadn’t improved it would have made for a very tough ride.

The Peak overnight Solstice run has collectively just woken up :coffeenow: :coffeenow:
Bacon, egg, beans, tomato sausage, black pud, hash browns.... :feast:
It rained most of the night and we didn't get a sunrise at the circle - low cloud - but made up for it with badgers, rabbits, a couple of foxes, little owls and burning an impatient commuter off the top of Grange hill at 45mph :evilchuffy:
I can heartily recommend the Schmidt SON20R with an Edelux Scheinwerfer. Weighs bugger all and no noticeable drag. Went down the Curbar Gap hillclimb course at 40mph in cloud at 2-30 am never missed a pothole.
Right, breakfast!! Congrats on finishing folks.

I think I've got my brain back now. That was... long. Gods, but Fife goes on forever, no wonder it's a bloody Kingdom.

This was the Year of Dogs (mostly chasing RB!), and the Year of the Terrible Squeak (poor, poor Brompton). And we got to meet Adrian and Scoosh and Dave H at the bridge (where a grumpy man tried to tell us off a lot, and aggro grenades were deployed while I tried not to giggle). The first part was ever so midgey. At the pub, I got a Predator facial when a glowstick spooged me.

Amazingly for me, my knee was happy. The pace was pretty slow - I was on the clydesd-er-cannondale - which helped with the legs, but the happy knee was a delightful surprise. At one point I was sleep-daft enough to think about using chamois cream as moustache wax. I think we almost got some Blues Brothers sing-alongs going, sort of.

The Wearies hit me as we got to Dalgety Bay and they never really left, so the lovely weather really did help. And I was reduced to giggles by riding past the bit where I bonked so badly three miles out from St Andrews the last time we made it. :)

Did Dave H get his kablooeyed Brompton wheel fixed, I wonder? Poor thing. It asploded in Fife, losing five spokes in one go, and there was a reduction to mince required to avoid tearing the rest apart. Scotland eats wheels, that's my only conclusion.
