I’m afraid it’s looking doubtful that I’ll be able to make it this year. I’m having trouble shaking off a sore throat and cough, and I’m feeling a bit under the weather.

If that wasn’t enough of an excuse, I don’t have a bike as yet – I thought I’d started prepping the Moulton in plenty of time, but everything has taken longer than expected. It’s just starting to come together, but I’m waiting for the wheels.

Awwww :c+sad: :disapprove: .

That's really sad, Mr 86. We'll miss you.

Just Jim has pulled out too, for work reasons.

Sam (who will be bringing an inhaler!)

The start list so far (including those from elsewhere) is:

Me
Rev Will
AndyGates
Scoosh
Marshall
Recombodna (+1 Jim)

We have lost Just Jim and Mr 86.

Any more for any more? I need to know how much beer to load in the car.

Please feel free to point other people at this ride, as always. I haven't mentioned it on YACF. They can always register interest via the facebook page (haven't got access right now, just search for Dumb Run V).

Sam

Hi guys. I'd forgotten all about this until just recently. I've left it a bit late to sort the necessary travel arrangements, but it would have otherwise been a good weekend for me - I've been time trialling every weekend since the end of March, but this weekend I'm not racing and instead looking to get plenty of miles in ahead of a 100 mile TT on the 26th! Anyway... good luck, hope you get a decent evening and go the distance.

Yeah !! I'll get my excuses in early!! Not as fit as I'd want to be as children and weather have hindered my STRICT (ahem) training regime!  Jim has pulled out   But he has a good excuse. I'll be there with me pal Neill and hopefully 1 other ( who needs some gentle persuading!)

You're not Marshall, are you? I had a PM from Just Jim saying he couldn't do it but Marshall would be.

I'm getting confused by all the Jims. I'm going to have to end up renaming everyone.

Well the Derbyshire solstice sunrise special looks like a goer for next Monday night. The 953 now has 24X28 granny gears and a Schmidt Son20 X Edelux lighting setup. (And I've found old Uncle Oscar's hip flask hiding in a cupboard!) :drunk:
Best to all Dumb Runners. :claps:

I would say I'll be thinking of you, but seeing I'll be spending the evening in a bar with, amongst others, Red Stags, I probably won't be thinking of anything by the time you start!
Have a good one!

Steve

Aw, thanks. I’m sorry to be missing it, too. I was getting into the mood for attempting it on a 2-speed Moulton – I like to make things difficult for myself! I’ll probably be feeling fine by Saturday night, but I’ve had this sore throat thing for over a week now, and keep thinking it can’t get any worse. I’m feeling a little better tonight, but still spluttering, and sounding a little horse and husky...

Waves to ‘Speedy’ Erron – hope you’re doing okay.

I hope everyone has a great ride.

Well, if you want to borrow a two-speed Moulton, I could bring mine up. >:)

Oops, edit to correct: Brompton. Still two-speed small wheel, but no bounce and more fold!

You just disqualified yourself for being too fast!

Red Stags night, Steve? Surely even the Stags aren't completely blotto by 8pm.

:-s :-k

well, maybe. I take your point.
