That depends on whether there's going to be anyone there I want to snog.

August 9th is full moon for that month, which is why the EE is being held on the 5/6th.

We could have this on the 12/13th so that anyone who is incredibly keen could still do both.

The other option is to give ourselves a full year to organise it and have it next June near the Solstice. the Solstice is on 21st June next year, so Saturday 23rd might be good. Then we get maximum light. Or on Saturday the 16th, as the full moon is the 15th.

We could call it the Helenback  (only it's one way  ).

It maybe starts close enough to Dumbarton to be the Dumb Run

RJ you're a genius :prayer: .

We just move the start to Dumbarton. It's not actually in Glasgow, but it's just up the road and it has a train station and everything.

Then we can call it the Dumb Run 8) :shadesbounce:

Note that PBP 2007 is late August, so if we hold this for the Solstice then it won't clash with anyone planning to do that.

I think that's a cracker of an idea, and I'm going to see if I can talk the cafe at the aquarium into opening early so we can all go poke the seals when we arrive.

So are we go on this? Shall I start putting some effort into it?

Suggested (vague) route.

Comes out at about 106 - 110 miles. Perfect.

  • Dumbarton
  • Bonhill
  • Auchincarroch
  • Killearn
  • Fintry
  • Muirmill
  • Denny
  • Stenhousemuir (because of an Absolutely sketch)
  • Falkirk via the millenium wheel
  • Linlithgow
  • Newton
  • Forth Bridge
  • Inverkeithing
  • Balmule
  • Kirkcaldy
  • Dysart
  • East Wemyss
  • Buckhaven
  • Kirkton of Largo
  • Colinsburgh
  • Arncroach
  • Pitcorthie
  • Kingsbarns
  • St Andrews for West Sands and brekkie

Trains go from Leuchars. I think this avoids any major hills of a very major nature. Around Solstice next year we'll have a very short night as well - it doesn't really get properly dark.

Nah. There was one in which they mentioned Stenhousemuir.

If we could find a Stoneybridge that would be fab...

Thinking ahead about logistics

I could take 4 maybe 5 eejits club members and bikes

I'd need a lift back to Duimbarton to get me car- maybe from a helpful West Coast type forum person :D

There are train stations in Leuchars and Dumbarton, Noggin, which should make transport easy.

If we get enough takers I'll organise a bus.

MVC has mentioned an interest and we had funds left over from the first League/Sorority bus so I was going to talk to her about setting up a fund for League/Sorority events to enable organisation of transport up front without putting the organiser out of pocket.

Actually, that reminds me of something I wanted to suggest to the members.

For those who had not noticed, those West Country Devils have decided to hold next year's EE on the same date, even though we got there first.

Are we still up for this? I shall start publicising it if so.

When is it again - midsummer or August? (I got confused mid thread)
Whenever, we won't be summer holidaying next year so we'll be up for whatever.

Saturday closest to the Summer Solstice.

Ride through the shortest night into an early dawn over the Froth. Beautiful :D .
