This illo from Triathlete's World (captioned "Will My Commuting Bike Embarass Me?") made me think of the Brommie Worlds:

I'm very tempted to go, you know. It'd be a perfect decompression event after my half-ironman the week before!

Here's the entry page and rules. Registration is open until a couple of weeks before the race. Two 6.5km laps, in suit and tie. I may need to borrow a bigger chainring..! :demon:

But I'd have to wear a ... (spit) tie! :)

Doing anything this evening?

Am currently (well, about to) putting fresh chains on clean bikes and am awaiting a phone call from my Mama.

Porquoi?

The Pikes are passing through and I'm meeting 'em at about nine at the Double Locks. Just off out for a pootle en route. See you there perhaps?

They've been and gone... doing the end-to-end, which I didn't realise. Normal service has been resumed.

Where's my Brompton!

I could be quite up for this. Really the racing should be on off-the-peg Brommies but I imagine there will be a load of custom shop jobs - fixed wheel, huge chain rings and the like.

I might have to scare up a bigger gear - the standard 2-speed is 56" and 76", IIRC, and if I could get an 88" or so, that's big enough for track. Just too daft :D

Location: Where? There. There on the stair.
8)

If I could have gotten there I would be suggesting a citycycling team. Unlikely though.

Looks brilliant fun!
