19 September 2008
Time: 7.50am-8.30am

Summary: As part of European Mobility Week 2008 events, a Commuter Challenge will take place during the morning rush hour on Friday 19th September. The event will compare commuter journeys in Edinburgh and show which journeys are fastest, cheapest and have least environmental impact.

Participants will set off from each of four departure points around Edinburgh and travel by car, bus, train, motorcycle or bicycle in to a central point at St Andrew's Square (adjacent to cafe area). From each departure point, different modes of transport will be used. Departures will be timed so that the participants from each starting point will arrive at St Andrew's Square around 8.15am.

I'm cycling from the ERI (big building full of sick people) - and hoping that blackpud and LaidBack (as he's known at another place) will repeat their insanely competitive fixed vs. bent challenge-within-a-challenge of last year from the same place ...

I just sort of invited myself and they said "Yes please". (I got wind of a general call for volunteers on the cyclingedinburghinfo website).

They always seem short of girlies to take part...
