Local lass Kirsten Hey (who isn't a member here, I don't think) reported via various eletrickery that she got a good haul of brambles (and nettle rash and cuts) from the canal between Hermiston Gait and Ratho. I'm not normally a canal towpath type (although that's my usual lunchtime running route) but the thought of bramble and apple crumble, or bramble and rhubarb pie, with lashings of proper custard, fair has my mouth watering and I know how much Frood loves his pudding.

Also: free food!

So. Any Edinburgers out there fancy a get together for brambling purposes? Other location suggestions welcome!

Sam

I can confirm that apple and blackberry crumble - especially if you can get a handful of blackcurrant and a handful of redcurrant in there, too, is delicious.

Particularly with extra thick double cream. :smug:

Enjoy scrumping!

Wait a bit, 'til the elderberries are out. Elderberry & blackberry port takes a while to mature but a bottle will blow 4 people's brains out. :drunk:

Less of the young!
I'll have a dig around, think I still have the very slow fermenting version. The trick is to put the sugar in a little at a time so the yeast can acclimatise to the alcohol content, otherwise it dies of alcohol poisoning. :faint:
